Varifocal glasses- A perfect partner for your ageing needs

Well is the best part about getting older? As a kid, we all wanted to grow old, work, and make money just to avoid studying and skip the exam part. Now, when we look back at the time we realise that those were some of the finest memories we have, and also no one showed us the cons of growing up. We were sure to be kept in the dark.

The growing part is still fine until you meet up with the health issues that come along with increasing age. You can even buy glasses frames in the UK, it’s just a few clicks away.

The age factor

If you have entered your 40s, then we would like to welcome you to the 40s club. Now, the dream to grow older has become, and reality and reality went a little far. In your 40s, you might start encountering various issues that may pertain for a long time. Well, there are some benefits associated with growing up like having the licence to boss around.

There are a lot of changes that you will be encountering while growing, some might be positives and some negatives. If they are positive, then embrace them with a happy face, and if there are more negatives, then still you must embrace them. All these issues can be sorted super easily without much effort.

As you grow older, your eye lens starts losing its elasticity, making it stiffer with time after the 40s. The condition results in close sight deteriorating and even losing near-focus ability. And it keeps deteriorating till you find a remedy to improve the method, and it is usually recommended to switch to varifocal glasses. Let’s understand the glasses in detail.

What are varifocal glasses?

Varifocal glasses are nothing but the advanced version of bifocal, the majority of people have been using bifocal or trifocal glasses for a long time now and are comfortable with the discomfort it offers.

Varifocal glasses offer three focal points that are near, far, and intermediate vision correction. Apart from that, one feature that bifocal and trifocal do not offer is the smooth transition of vision between all the focal points. There is a visible division that makes it clearly uncomfortable to shift focus between different focal points, but varifocals remove that division completely, making it an advanced option to go for. But along with all these advances, there is a con for the first-time user, as their brain and eyes require quite a time to adjust with the advancement of various focal points that these glasses offer. One must be very careful while walking down the footpath, or climbing the stairs as a first-time user.

How to adjust to such a situation?

There are a few methods that one can actually follow to adjust easily with these advanced glasses.

  • The very first thing is not to skip in between while wearing your glasses from day till night.
  • While wearing your glasses, one must try to switch back to the old frame; this might not provide an ample amount for the brain and eyes to adjust to the situation.
  • While trying to adjust to the situation, for taking it slow, make sure that you move your head in the direction, instead of rolling your eyes, making it much more convenient.
  • The last method is to maintain consistency, keeping the glasses on regular without any skips.

Even if a person is still not adjusted with all these practises, then it is best to consult an expert and take necessary remedies for the same. You can even try metal frame glasses for your varifocal glasses.

When to get your eyesight checked?

Well if you are a regular prescription glasses user, then you must be getting your eyesight checked at regular intervals as per the instruction of the expert. And if you are a non-glass user then, one must get their eyesight checked at regular intervals.

  • Children generally have sharp eyesight, but they too need checkups at regular intervals, every 3-4 years, and one must try to understand their eye care needs.
  • After the 20s to 40s, one must get the eyes checked every 2-3 years; due to the increased digital use, there are chances of increased issues.
  • After the 40s till 59; one must have a regular check on their eye health, like in every 1-2 years.
  • And then come 60s and after, at this time there is no more escape and one must get their eyes checked every year without any skips, this will also help in identifying any underlying eye issues.
